Written 5 September 1727 – Proven 6 January 1728

In the name of God Amen the fifth day of
September in the first year of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord George the 1st and by the grace of God of
Britaine France and Ireland King Defender of the faith x Annoqss Dom 1727.  I John Osborne of the
Parish of Freshwater in the Isle of Wight and County of Southton Yeoman being of Sound and perfect mind and memory—
(God be praised) Do make and declare this my Last Will and Testament in manner and forme following Viz—
Imprimis I bequeath my Soul to God my maker and my Body to the Earth to be in decent manner Buried at the discretion
of my Executrix herein after named.  Item I give and bequeath to my Nephew David James one Guinea Item I give and
bequeath to my Grandson William Dore one Guinea Item I give and bequeath to Elizabeth the daughter of William Munday
one Guinea Item I give and bequeath to my Nephew John James Ten pounds of Lawfull money of Great Britaine. Item I
give and bequeath to my Neece Susanna James ten pounds of Lawfull money of Great Britain. Item I give and bequeath to my Grandchild Lidia Dore Ten pounds. And to my Grandson John Dore Ten pounds of Lawfull money of Great Britaine.  Those Legacies
to be paid within one month after the decease of Jane my Wife by my Executrix herein after named. Item I give Devise and
bequeath unto my Daughter Lidia Williams all and Singular my freehold Lands Tenements and Hereditaments and also
all my Leasehold Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever within the Parish of Freshwater afores’d for and during her —naturall Life upon this condition nevertheless that she my said daughter shall provide for and allow unto Jane my beloved —
wife a Sufficient Maintenance during her naturall Life my Said Wife to have the Liberty to Live where she please and to —
command her maintenance Sufficient as aforesaid And after the decease of my Said Daughter Lydia then all and Singular
my freehold Lands Leasehold Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever in Freshwater afores’d with their—
and every of their rights members and Appurtences I give devise and bequeath unto my Grandson James Dore in manner following
(that is to say) the freehold Lands to hold to him my So: Grandson James Dore and to his Heirs and Assignes forever and the Lease-hold Lands to hold to him thes’d James and to his Execut’r Adm’r and Assignes for and during all the residue and Remainder of my —
forme and Estate in thes’d Leasehold Lands he allowing to my So: Wife her Sufficient maintenance as afores’d if she should happen
to survive my So: daughter Lydia.  And if it should so happen that my So: Grandson James Dore Should die without heirs Then thes’d
Lands to go to my Grandson John Dore in manner as afores’d he Allowing to my So: Wife her maintenance during her Life as a-
fores’d: And if it should happen that my Grandson John Dore should die without Heirs then thes’d Lands and premiss to goe to my Grand-
daughter Lydia Dore in manner as afores’d She also allowing unto Jane my So: Wife her maintenance during her life afores’d Item
I give and bequeath unto my daughter Lydia Williams all that my Tenemt: and Lands at Troublefield in the Parish of St Hellens for
during her naturall Life If the Lives by which I holds the Same Shall and do Soo Long Live.  And after [interlined] the decease of my So: daughter
Lydia then to my four Grandchildren hereafter named (that is to say) David, George, Mary and Betty Williams to be equally
Shared amongst them four Share and Share alike during the Continuance of the Lives by which I holds the Same Item All the
rest of my goods and Chattells whatsoever or wheresoever found I give and bequeath to my Said daughter Lydia Williams
whom I do make and ordain Sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament And I do hereby Revoke disannull and make
void all former Wills by me made Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.  In —
Witness whereof I thes’d John Osborne have hereunto Sett my hand and Seale the day and yeare first above written./

Written 4 October 1727

Be it known to all men by these Presents That whereas
I John Osborne of the Parish of Freshwater in the Isle of
Wight and county of Southton Yeoman have made and declared
my Last Will and Testament in Writing bearing Date the fifth
day of September 1727. The Said John Osborne by this present
Codicil do Ratify and Confirm my said Last Will and Testament,
And do give and bequeath unto my Nephew John James (that now
liveth with me) the Sum of Ten Pounds of Lawfull money of Great
Britaine to be paid to him thes’d: John James by my Executrix out of
my Estate within one Month after my decease over and above
the ten pounds bequeathed to him Thes’d John in my so: Last Will &
Testament And my Will and Meaning is that this Codicil be and
be Adjudged to be part and parcell of my Sd: Last Will and ——
Testament; and that all things herein mentioned and contained—
be faithfully and truly performed and as fully and simply in every
