Flashback: When I was a teenager, my room was decorated in purple, because reportedly that was Donny Osmond’s favourite colour, and I lived for each new release of ‘Tiger Beat’ magazine so I could get the latest glossy poster of my favourite idol. I’m quite certain that even at her current age of ninety-one, my mother still knows all the words to Donny’s hit song ‘Puppy Love’! When he would croon (over and over, I will admit) ‘someone help me, help me, help me please’, she would always shout ‘Oh for heaven’s sake, will someone PLEASE help that boy!?’

Now back to the present. Last weekend, I completed the arrangements for my flight and hotel for Salt Lake City in February to attend Rootstech 2015.

One of the biggest names in entertainment from one of the most well-known families in the world will be part of the largest family history conference in the world. Entertainer, actor, author, and television host Donny Osmond will be joining RootsTech as keynote speaker on Saturday, February 14, 2015. He will inspire and entertain the thousands of conference attendees to discover and share family stories—past, present, and future.

Donny has been singing and entertaining audiences for more than 50 years. He has starred on Broadway and in Las Vegas. He has sold millions of records. He has hosted a variety of TV shows. Now, he says, he’s anxious to share stories in a completely different venue. “I’m already looking forward to this exciting event,” Donny said. “Family and family stories are obviously very important to me. This is a chance to connect to something that is part of who I am.”

I have to admit that even all these years later, I got a thrill of excitement when I received the notification today that Donny Osmond would be one of the keynote speakers at Rootstech 2015 in February. I wonder if he still likes purple?
